A day with Family

Today was nothing short of perfect! We got together and Uncle Sam and Aunt Kelly's house for some awesome food, yummy drinks, and simply a great time with family. We swam, drank, played, snacked, drank some more, visited, relaxed drank again some more =) and settled the night with an amazing dinner and a delicious cake for desert. I did my absolute best to get a pic of everyone, but that did not happen. Nor did I get my "family pics and even worse I did not manage to get any pics of the hosts themselves. None the less it was spectacular day.

Looks like we survived...

The first week of school. I must say with little or no issues. Andrew had a VERY minor talking problem in class, which resulted in sitting aside in a chair. He is apart of the chatter box club lol. As Steven was reading the student parent handbook he read the section on discipline. It spoke about pink slips and getting send to the office ect. Andrew chimed in to tell us that he was put on time out and got in trouble for talking. It then became this lavish, fabricated story, at which point I said I will just talk to the teacher in the morning when I drop him off. When I dropped him off I brought it up and she smiled and said he just talks a lot, there is a group of them. It makes me feel better my child is not the only one running his mouth, at the same time we want Andrew to learn there is a time to talk and a time to learn. She said if it was ever a problem she would call or send a note. The question now is, does Andrew still deserve a toy?

We made an agreement with Andrew, that if he made it thru the first week of school like a big boy, no problem, no calls ( which would have taken a lot to get ), going to bed with no issues, eating his dinners ect., that we would take him to Target to pick a toy.

Stay tuned for the "Is he still worthy" verdict....

Mom, May I have another please?

This is definitely not a question that we get from Andrew often. Especially when it comes to vegetables. He is good with eating. Not too picky, and we teach him that you eat what is given to you except on special occasions. He cleans his plate for the most part but never has this boy asked for more Veggies! Not only did he ask for another ear of this rather large corn, but it was the first item on his plate tonight to get devoured. I still wanted him to get his meat in so I told him if he eat all his chicken, he could have another corn. I have never seen his chicken disappear so fast. I put another ear of corn in for Andrew and Daddy, and would you know, this little boy eat the whole second ear of corn. I tell ya, I do not know where his appetite came from. Over the past couple months he just wants to eat/snack all the time.

Anyways, as you can see it is that time again. Our beloved corn from Davis Ranch. We are heading to my Aunt and Uncle's house this weekend in Loomis for some swimming and a BBQ and I decided I would bring corn along, in addition to my Guacamole dip and desert. Who doesn't love corn at a BBQ? The corn is not only yummy for our tummy but it is a sure sign for me that Fall is well on it's way. I love fall!

This is before he was reminded of how delicious the corn is and asked for another

First day take 2?

Not really, but since Andrew decided today was going to be a tear free day, I was able to get a couple more pictures to go with his "first Day of Kindergarten" album.

Be vewy vewy quiet...

If you look very close, you can see a Coyote sleeping on the levi right across the street from our house. It currently serves as a wild life reserve until the construction on out future school begins. Whenever that might be...

Back 2 School Night

Last night was Andrew's back 2 school night. I was nervous for so many reasons. My baby, my first born is starting school on Monday. How could 5 years go by so fast? As I sat in the cafeteria and watched the key point for the introduction I felt almost like I was having flash backs from my Kindergarten days. And remembering how i was held back in 1st grade. I was horrified. I am determined to do everything in my power to make sure this does not happen to my child. I do not necessarily think it is the parents fault if a child is held back, just the way the child develops perhaps. But if I can spend that extra time reading, and teaching him things at home. Perhaps our odds will be higher.

Jr. High was amazing to me, and everything else after that was a disaster. All because of a church that my father dove head first into. I am saddened that I do not have these memories to look back on but at the same time I think that because of that, it allowed me the opportunity to be with Steven. In away he was my saving knight. In the middle of all the misery our relationship was growing.

As, a parent was always want better than what we had for our kids and it is mission to do just that. We go today so Andrew can meet his teacher, Mrs.Newman. she has been teaching for 13 years and she used to be a Vice Principal. She is the eldest of the 4 teachers, So I cannot be more pleased with her experience and what she can bring to the kids. Wish Andrew luck.

Some funny faces

Last weekend, we headed over to Safetyville for cousin Donovan's 3rd Birthday. I had stole these shots that were taken of Andrew while trying to smash the very tough and indestructible pinata Aunt Andria got. Sometimes he makes the funniest faces!

The Rockets

Andrew has started Soccer and has been practicing for the past few weeks .He is playing for the Rosemont Rockets. It's kinda cool because I used to play for Rosemont in Jr. High, and now my kid is.

Today was the annual Jamboree, we had a scrimmage. It was very short and fast, It was only 20 min. Steven had to work today, so I got Andrew ready, packed up the baby (and all the luggage that is required) remembered to grab my chair and actually got out the door 15 minutes early. I was so proud of myself. I stayed up rather late last night scrapbookng and Steven went to Uncle Benji's around the corner for some Ping Pong, I was exhausted this morning when 7:00 rolled around. Not to mention the baby got up quite a few times between 1-7. Starbucks was a must and since I was out the door 15 min early it worked.

The Rocket's got the first goal, and then the second. However, that one was in the wrong net - Whoops! lol

We are also standing!

Luke has also been standing and pulling himself up. He LOVES standing in the crib now. That is his favorite thing.

7Months - Looks who's been sitting!

I cannot believe my little Luke is already 7 months. 8 on the 23rd actually. Time is just flying. He has been sitting for a while now, and is eager to get himself up. We see some potential walking material here. He is stronger and much more of a determined baby than Andrew and Andrew was walking at 8 months. Hopefully Luke will follow in his brothers footsteps.
