The Gopher Snake

Yesterday my manger emailed me some pics of her children petting this Gopher snake that her husband brought home. Needless to say she was not so thrilled about this but at the same time not surprised. So, we finally just got Andrew comfortable with the whole snake thing. We bought him a fake one and he named it Banana's. It is a yellow life like one. He loves it now! So, I got this brilliant Idea to ask if he can bring it buy to show Andrew before he released it. So, today we waited for the snake to come visit Andrew. He was so excited, just a pinch hesitant at first but warmed up to it quite fast. He wanted to show his fake snake to the real snake! It was so cute. He said bye to it and thanked it for coming to visit him. We want him to be friendly with all creatures, but just do not want him wanting to go after one if he ever sees one.

Burnt Out

Lately I have been feeling so burnt out. And if I recall correctly I have felt this way since this nasty weather started to creep up. I went through a spell like this when we were having all that yucky weather in late April. I felt all depressed. I must say I do not enjoy the blistering heat but it sure beats the muggy overcast crap we have been having the past few days. I have been taking naps and feeling so exhausted and I normally do not feel like that, even getting off at 12am, I can normally get through a day o.k with no nap. After I take one I still feel dead. Hopefully this will pass once the sun comes out again... and stays ! Andrew has been acting different lately too ( since the weather change) he has had a runny nose and just today started coughing, but other than that he is just going through this I am not going to listen phase. It kinda irritates me because he is not like this at all, and not that I am thinking about it , as long as he has been acting like this is went that braty ass Justine came back to day care. I cannot stand that , but that is the price you pay for putting children in day care!

Andrew's Big Boy Bed

At 2 1/2 my son looks like he is about 3 or so. He is ( I think ) over due for a big boy bed. I have to admint I have been putting it off for some time. But Grandma and Grandpa have been trying to get me to take this full size bed and I was being a brat and wanted him to have a twin. Now... If he is going to be as tall as Daddy this is actually not really practical. Steven had a twin through adult and his feet hung off. So, I finally broke down and said o.k, I will take the bed. This is after checking on him one night and finding his feet hanging out throught the bars. So, Papa picked it up from Grandpa and Grandma McClain's house Saturday and I ordered his Thomas the Train sheet set. He made it a point today on our way out, since he saw his bed in the garage , to let me know that it was his bed. He just has to wait untilt his weekend when his sheets arrive. I figured I was not yet going to get the comforter because it is more so summer time and there will be no need for it. In the mean time he can use his Spongebob blanket for the cooler nights. I think he is going to love his new bed. On the other hand, this means less minutes for mommy in bed in the morning because he will now be able to get up and roam around. Maybe he will come in bed with me and sleep ( yea, I wish )

Conratulations Brother!

I received a call today from my 17 year old brother who probably has never picked up a broom or a mop in his life. He has been pursuing a job at philly cheese steak and they have been kinda giving him the run around a bit, so I just keep telling him to keep following up and stay on it. He gets so discouraged so easily. So last he told me the manager was suppsoed to be giving him a call ( this is what he was told on his last follow up). So they called him today and he finally got the job! After like 2 months of going back and forth. He has to bring in his workers permit tomorrow so they can start to train him. I am so proud! Now he can stop squandering my parents hard earned cash and learn the real value of a dollar.

Pixar Cars

Today was a very nice day. Steven has said last night that he has been wanting some spaghetti so I made sure Andrew and I got to the store to get the goods to make it. I kinda miss being home at night so I can make yummy grubby meals. I only get to 2 days a week now. Anywho, first stop was Jamba Juice, this is the it spot for Andrew and I, He loves them so much! It is cute because when they call my name to get the drinks they always hand him his and he has that cute smirk on his face and says Thank you. Then we headed across the street to Albertsons where we picked up some noodles, sauce and I picked up some Albertsons fresh cookies. Andrew got to ride around the store in one of those cars while keeping his Jamba Juice close by in the cup holder. Surprisingly he did not put up a big stink when it was time to go. I put the bag in the car and we headed down the strip. I wanted to stop at payless shoe source. Did not find anything for me but got Andrew some play shoes. On the way back Andrew detoured into KB Toys. Of course we did not leave there empty handed. He picked out the new pixar film Cars "Lightening McQueen" It makes all kinds of fun noises and race sounds. That will be the first thing we will be doing Friday June 9. This will be the test to see if Andrew can handle seeing a movie. And Mama wants to see it too ;) I think we can get away with it because it is about race cars. So, back home we went. We opened his new toy and I got started on the spaghetti. Boy has it been getting hotter and hotter!!! I could not cool down after being outside. What I would do to have a pool!

We pretty much just got ready for work and Daycare after that.. And off to finish the day we go.

Saturday Activities 5/13/2006

Today was Andres's First Communion. After staying up until 2am and then getting up at 7:30 boy was I tired. But none the less I was excited. I always love family events. First thing this morning I had to drop my car off at Dodge to get my long over due oil change. The guy was so rude to me when I came because I did not make an appointment. He mad a snotty comment about everything, I had a coupon and he said " everybody and there mother does" WTF ?? Am I not the customer ?? Then he will not accept the coupon because it was sent from the Folsom location. O.k, is Dodge not one whole big company ?? I was going to call and complain, but I figured I did enough of that for one month with the Holiday Inn. Needless to say I will not be going back to Elk Grove Dodge and will drive clear out of my way to get better customer service.

Then we headed off to Andres's Firs Communion. The church was so crowded and I could not see anything. But from what I heard it was a nice service. I ran into Geroge, he is one of the manafers here at Apple. Afterwards we headed over to the reception at Vellejos the food was so yummy. Andres's uncle owns the restaurant. We hung out there for a while. I adored the twins most of the time , they are too freaking cute. Then we headed off to there house for some swimming.

We had to leave for a bit to go get my car and get changed, but when we got back I took Andrew in the pool. I am surprised at how much he loves the water. We need to get him in swimming lessons so bad. He would love that. I always love time with the family. Mine is not big at all, and what we do have is so disfunctional, so I have without hesitation adopted Steven's.

We pretty much headed home and Andrew crashed out really fast, he was so pooped. I have to say Steven and I were shocked at how awesome he was with no nap. We pretty much crashed out a bit early as well.

Friday Activities 5/12/2006

Friday we went on Grandpa's boat. We wanted to take Andrew out to see how he would do. No big deal , maybe for like an hour or so. Well Grandpa wanted to go fishing and stuff but Steven did not want to do all that. We left about 9 is and went out to Pardee. I have never been there so it was nice. Only you cannot swim there and I wanted to dip andrew in the water to cool him off. Grandma packed some lunch for everyone so we eat while we were sitting out in the middle of the lake while Grandpa ( yep you guessed it ) fished. He caught a TINY one , but we threw it back. Andrew was not too sure about that thing floppin around in the boat , so he stayed close to me and Grandma. As for me I just kicked back and let the sun beat on me. Lord knows I enjoyed it after that long depressing wet spell we had there in April. My arms got a little burnt ( I needed to even out my drivers tan so that was o.k, But I made sure to put some sun block on my face. I have paid with some serious sun burns not to mention sun damage and Fever blisters ) So, that was the first thing I did when getting ready. We got home and I put Andrew down for a nap and thought I would take one as well. Nothing like spending time in the good ol sun and then taking a nice nap ( normally I like the air conditioner blasting so I can cuddle the covers , but it is not hot enough for that yet.) Later that evening we got some dinner, I had Dos Coyotes and Steven had Pot Belly Deli. Yes, I drove to 2 different locations to get dinner. I was not in the mood for a burger. Always in the mood for mexican * grin from ear to ear * Then after that we took a drive across the street to Hallmark and got Andres a card because he had his first communion the next day. We went back home.... the boys went to bed and stayed up and watched the movies I rented ( Rumor has it and Just friends) both just O.k movies. The endings were too predictable. And I stayed up until 2AM cleaning the house. Doing dishes swept the hardwood, cleaned it, laundry and cleaned the front bathroom. Seems working swing shift gives me late night energy. Not always a good thing!!

I finally crashed and then woke up Saturday , as you can imagine, a little pooped!

Today was a huge day for the family. My brother, who loves to wear pants with holes and prefers a hat over brushing his hair any day, Is off to Jr. Prom. He was asked to go with a friends ( of whom my brother actually likes very much) I must say that I can see why, She is such a beautiful young girl. And if you saw his last girlfriend you would understand why I was making this comment.

A Day out with Thomas ( April 29, 2006)

It had finally come, our Day out with Thomas. Having a 2 year old son means everything little boy!! Andrew has always loved trains, especially Thomas the Tank engine. When watching one of his movies, we saw that there was an actual real live Thomas the Tank engine that tours the world, It is this big even called " A day out with Thomas". I was thrilled to see that they toured the US, at first all I saw was Europe. And I am ashamed to admit that I was so bummed that it was not here so we could go and take Andrew. Then steven called me one day and said that he found it and that Thomas was going to be here in April at a railway in Fillmore, Ca.. Which is located near Magic Mountain in Valencia. So, we packed up Andrew, and along came Grandma and Grandpa.

"The nightmare arrival"

So, after a long detoured drive around the Valencia area, tired as you can imagine from a long drive with a 2 year old that is not always the happiest of campers.. We arrive at the Holiday Inn. Seeing as I worked for a major Corporation, I was offered a discounted rate on the room. It all started when she had us sign in. I noticed that the rate on the form was not the rate in which I booked the room at, so of course brining this to her attention, she had claimed that there was nothing about the room being the rate I am claiming ( I even had the original piece of paper that we wrote all the information on at the time of the call that had the price I was quoted on it) but nothing in her computer had this rate. So, she had to call and get a code that would allow her to bring the room down to that rate. This took 30 min of her being on the phone.. while we were waiting ( tired and getting very irritated ) Finally, after me coming back to the bathroom, she had got it all squared away and the rate we were given. So, we loaded up and went to out room.

" Round 2 "

We arrive at our room, expecting 2 beds and a couch, we get in there and there is only one bed and a couch. So, I told steven that she just told us this was 2B and a couch. Regardless of that , It is what we booked the room for!! So, he went down there and told them that we are short a bed..( At this time we were waiting in the room ) frustrated enough with the situation, I headed down to the front desk to see what the hold up was... because we were waiting in the room we had to go back and get all our stuff out and them go back down to the front and get the new room. So, we get the other room... And would you know that we walked into someone else's room. The TV was on , all there stuff was there.. Thank god they were not in the room. How humiliating!!! AGAIN... we go down and tell them that they gave us someone else's room. Now this took another 15 min or so for them to finally figure out what they had been doing wrong. ( In the mean time Andrew was enjoying a cookie that he had got on there couch ;) ) So, as they handed us a 3rd room key they admitted to us that now when the next guest comes to check in , they are not going to have a room for them. At this point I was just livid!! I just wanted to go to bed!
However , we headed to Denny's for a late night dinner... Nacho's ( not the best I have had ) But by this point I was not expecting perfection.

We get back to the room after our dinner and Steven decides that he was going to call and make a complaint about the experience. we were told we would get a call back on the issue after 72 hours. Forgetting about it for now, we woke up to have our day with Thomas. We got there so early which was so nice because we did not have to fight through people. They had it totally set up for children , it was so wonderful! Lots of Activities.. Andrew especially loved the Table where you can play with the Trains. He pretty much did that until it was time to beard the train for our ride. It was finally 10:40, time to pile on to Thomas so that he can pull the 500 passengers they came from all over to see him! It was a 20 min train ride , on a real Thomas the Tank Engine. It was so adorable and Andrew had such a wonderful time!

After this we got some mexican food and this yummy place ( cannot recall the name ) we looked through some of the shops and then headed back home. It was a long trip but so worth it to give Andrew such a good time.

" Holiday Inn Redeemed"

That following Monday I believe it was , I got a call back from Guest relations. The call was short and sweet! She basically explained that the staff was spoken too about the situation was there was no excuse for out experience, that they would be refunding our entire stay! Sheesh , I thought I would be getting some magic mountain tickets, so this was awesome to hear!!

We cannot wait to go to see Thomas again next year!

My First Blog

I have finally ventured into the wonderful world of online blogging. Since I love myspace so much, but really do not want EVERYONE reading my business, I can do it this way and control who can and cannot read my thoughts. I cannot say how many Diary books I have created and designed that are at home in my closet all dusty, I love writing but cannot stick with it for some reason. Maybe this will keep me motivated? So, for now on, this is where I will store all of my thoughts , dreams, experiences and the good and bad news that life can bring your way.
