Finger Fixed!

After ( I don't know how many years) , Daddy finally decided it was time to get his finger put back in place. It had been dislocated for many many years. It is his right middle finger. For as long as I've known him, it has been out of place and longer than all his other fingers. He had a mark to remember from the ball game he played that day.

Friday morning mama was up before the birds getting ready to take him in for his big day. We had to be there at 6am which meant I had to get him be 5am. I was up like at 3:30 getting ready so I could leave no later than 4:15. I made my stop at the 24 hour Starbucks by 99 and got my seasonal Venti Gingerbread Latte. They just started serving it Nov 1. I normally would not get a Venti. But I knew todays event would call for it. I got to his parents pretty early, surprisingly I was wide awake and felt great.

We headed to Roseville. It was an outpatient operation so I did not have to plow the hospital halls. We were early there too so I stopped to get some breakfast. I felt bad for Steven, he had not had anything since 9pm the night before and I know he was starving. Daddy is a huge breakfast person , it is his favorite meal of the day, I know it was killing him to sit with an empty tummy.

We got all signed in , and no sooner did he sit down and I got the the bathroom, they called him back. It was the normal patient prep. He got changed, asked him a million questions , a milltion times as each person made there round. And the fun part. The IV =) He got all hooked up and ready to go. It was different watching someone else, I am the one so used to getting poked and magled. The one thing I have to say is I have never seen such awesome care. And I mean all around. Every single person that was caring for him was awesome, there was not a bad mean person in between the process. I was very please with everything.

Surgery took about 1 1/2 hours. When they called me back they already had him sitting in the chair. He was still coming out of the anesthesia, and I must say he was so precious, he has never had surgery before, meaning he has never been under anesthesia. He was definitely enjoying his cozy comfortable state =) He just occasionally looked at me with a nice smile on his face.

He has a follow up apt Monday to have the bandages and little cast removed which will then be replaced by a splint. I have been calling him my one handed bandit =), I will spare the embarrassment as I did manage to capture one pic =)

OMG! I had no idea he had a crooked middle finger. What provoked him to get it fixed? Cuz I can't even get Rudy to the doctor for the leg he's been hobbling on for the past week! What a sport! And 1.5 hours? Holy cow! Way to go, daddy-o!
