It has been something that I have been needing to get on the ball with for Andrew. Good ol Potty Training. He is almost 3 and most will say he should have been already, but I do not feel it is right to force a child. So, when we see him standing in the corner and his face all red, we know what is going on. This is when we try and coax him into the bathroom. Now, he is not always willing but I know he understands the concept of going to the bathroom since he is always following me and Steven in there and can clearly see how you go ( as a woman and as a man).
So... This weekend he randomly told us he needs to go #2. Automatically I am off the couch. If he is going to approach me the I am all for it, I knew it would be in his time! He took my hand and we walked to his bathroom, sat em on the toilet, and as I was talking to him trying to take him mind off of the initial fact that this is something different and I am sure the "deed" is going to feel different with nothing to catch it for him. As we were talking about the normal little boy 2 year old stuff he is making faxes and getting a little red, and then he proceeds to tell me " It hurts". I could not help but to kinda giggle, because as nasty as pooping is, it was the cutest thing. I coached em and said just push it out like you would go in your popper ( this is what he calls his diapers btw ). He did!! He continued to push it out, I thought we would ask for his diaper like he has done in the past but he followed through and got the job done! I When he was all done we were hootin and hollerin, daddy was banging his flip flops together so it was a very celebrated thing. He has a smile ear to ear.
Then...Today when I was getting him ready to go to Grandma's I was changing him and reminded him not to pee when his popper was off. He immediately said he had to pee. I took advantage of that moment and rather than put the popper on we ran to the potty. Not even a minute went by and he was tinkling in the toilet. I told him since he was potting in the big boy toilet that he can start to wear his big boy Thomas undies but he had to do it more after and he seemed to be as excited about that, as was I. Then a short break for diapers until we will have to buy them again for the next one we want to have.
Lets keep our fingers crossed that he keeps with it!

Go Andrew - it's your birthday, we're gonna party like it's your birthday... and we don't give a flyin flip flop it's not your birthday.
I always thought he was already potty trained... don't ever think I've seen you change his diaper. how strange
